Why a research laboratory?

Board sports practice is evolving extremely fast. Industrial production implies many steps and time to be implemented. In order to gain in efficiency, "bcdesign" and "mb-boards" have set up a research and development laboratory located in Switzerland.

The outcome is an ultra reactive research center for experimenting and improving  ideas. Especially to tweak avant-gardist boards which favour a more natural progression for the riders.

Who contributes to  mb-lab?

- Benoit Clément (bcdesign), mb-boards shaper

- Mathias Bavaud (mb-composite, mb-fins) expert in composite materials

- Pierres-Yves Mottier (learn2windsurf, pym coaching) expert in learning methodology

- A comprehensive team of riders/testers of all levels, essential to meet eventually mb-boards product requirements.

 
Together, they explore and develop concept boards with technology and shape that challenges current serial production. 

What comes out of this lab?

Concept boards, some of which will be tested in pre-production (around ten copies).
They are available for sale to any visionary riders who want to advocate the cause of true shape advance.

Who is Benoit Clément, bcdesign ?

Industrial designer by training.

For more than 10 years, he experimented product development in the sports industry.

Windsurfer, surfer, wingfoiler, surf foiler, of Sunday skater, freestyle snowboarder... in short, he likes whatever on a board.

With real passion, he has been shaping his own surfboards for 2008.

  Combining both his passion for the sport and his knowledge of product development,  he has succeeded to make a living for 2018 in the industry.

Our mb shapes are different, where does the inspiration come from ?

Nature takes a huge part in our quest for the perfect shape and new concepts.
Indeed, nature has evolved over billions of years to shape living species or plants whose perfection can be contemplated by us all everyday.
Balance and harmony in nature are at the center of our inspiration.
